Loving Education Center!
Volunteers are an integral component of our organization, assisting us with our educational programs in endless ways. Volunteers choose to donate a range of services. We are grateful to the dozens of people each year who join our team and use their skills to support our mission of education.
Literacy is related to poverty, unemployment, and homelessness. The most common way for volunteers to get involved is as a tutor in the English literacy part of our program. Tutoring is a very rewarding experience. As a tutor, you will help someone improve their life.
The digital divide continues to grow for immigrant population who lack access to computer technology. Work with our computer teacher to assist students with their technology training and narrow the gap of the digital divide.
Assist our students in improving their English language skills by volunteering in our computerized language lab where students practice hearing, seeing, and speaking their new language.
Work with underserved children ages 0-5 years to nurture pre-literacy and kindergarten readiness skills. This opportunity can involve reading to the children, guiding arts & craft projects, and helping children use the computers and preschool software.
Volunteer to provide expertise, ideas, and support to our programs leadership team while participating in publicity and fundraising efforts.
Work with other volunteers to design, implement, and support our organization's fundraising efforts. This can involve researching corporate sponsors or behind the scenes assisting with an annual appeal.
This opportunity is involved with assisting in updating existing web pages.
Support organizational development efforts by researching potential funders, corporate sponsors, and avenues concerning marketing and public relations efforts.
Assist with the folding, stamping and distribution of our biannual newsletter.
A volunteer is needed to research internet information and statistics relating to low literate populations who face obstacles to education, technology, health care, and early childhood education. This information will help our grant writer leverage funding to support our work.
